В парикмахерскую пришел мужчина с мальчиком лет пяти, шести, держа его за руку. Он очень торопился и попросил парикмахера, чтобы тот сначала подстриг его, а затем мальчика.

«Он может подождать, я хочу, чтобы сначала вы подстригли меня», сказал он. Парикмахер так и сделал. Когда он закончил, мужчина вышел из кресла, и мальчик занял его место. Он извинился и сказал, что очень торопится, и что он вернется через несколько минут и заплатит за них обоих. Затем мужчина ушел, и парикмахер начал делать прическу мальчику. Когда он закончил, он поднял мальчика и посадил его на стул, чтобы тот подождал. Он дал мальчику посмотреть журнал.

Прошло полчаса. Затем час. Наконец парикмахер сказал ребенку: «Не волнуйся, твой отец скоро вернется».

«Отец? - сказал мальчик. Он не мой отец. Я играл на улице, а он подошел и сказал: «Пойдем со мной, мальчик. Пойдем вместе в парикмахерскую и подстрижемся».

One day a very wealthy American came to an English artist and said:

“Sir, I've secretly bought a valuable 16^th century painting. I know that the English government won't let me take it out of England, but I have a plan to get run that. I want you to paint the picture - it does not matter what it is on top of the old master. When I get to New York we can easily remove your picture from the canvas without damaging the picture underneath.”

The artist agreed and painted the picture of a London gasworks on it. Then the American got the canvas to New York and sent it to the firm to remove the artist's painting.

But about a week later he got a telegram from the firm. It said:

“We have removed the picture of the London gasworks, also the old master and are now down to portrait of Queen Victoria. When do you want us to stop?”
