To provide guidance to the Master and Officers on board the ship with respect to the steps

to be taken when a pollution incident has occured or is likely to occur.

All information, operational instructions and reference material concerning a pollution incident which has occured or is likely to occur.

Guidelines for the development of shipboard oil pollution emergency plans, developed by the IMO.

General Principles for Ship Reporting Systems and Ship Reporting Requirements, including Guidelines for Reporting Incidents Involving Dangerous Goods, Harmful Substances and/or Marine Pollutants, adopted by the IMO by resolution A. 648 (16).

4.Actions

Spill Officer:

- effects the general guide and control on procedures which may become a potentional source of pollution;

- realizes preventive arrangements and follows the principle : it is easier to prevent a threat of pollution than combatting against consequences;

- prepares for the master projects of orders and instructions on ensurance of safe operational procedures;

- controls the readiness of crew to carry out safely procedures which may give a pollution;

- schedules additional trainings if necessary;

- controls the readiness of Shipboard Response Team to combat against spill;

- focuses the attention of Spill Team on localization of spill source, reducing

of spill extend and ensurance of a fact, that spilled oil will not reach the

water surface overboard.
